Facility-Wide Public Address System Upgrade, Phase 1, 2 and 3

Introba provided professional engineering services for a comprehensive public address system (PAS) upgrade throughout a facility. Initially focused on replacing end-of-life headend systems, microphones, and amplifiers, the project expanded as it became evident that the PAS played a crucial role in life safety annunciation and required compliance with current codes.

Coordinating with the Airport Authority, the PAS vendor, and maintenance contractors, Introba developed a phased approach—phase 1 concentrated on Terminal 2, replacing the PAS headend. Phase 2 involved amplifiers, sensors, microphones, and equipment in Terminal 2. Phase 3 covered Terminal 1 and public areas of Concourses A, B, C, and D, including new speakers in the ticketing lobby.

The upgrade included installation in multiple communication rooms and a new fiber hub/communication room in Concourse A for infrastructure growth. Rezoning of speakers, microphones, and equipment ensured compliance with NPFA 101, facilitating horizontal passenger evacuation during fire alarms, reducing operational impacts, and expediting recovery. This rezoning enhances safety, preventing unnecessary evacuations out of sterile areas or into airside spaces, as directed by First Responders, thereby minimizing disruptions to airport operations. Our meticulous planning and execution ensure a seamless transition to a modernized, compliant PAS, enhancing safety and operational efficiency.
