Langley Public Health Relocation

Langley Public Health Relocation

Langley, British Columbia
Canada
Langley

The new Langley Health Unit will be in the Township of Langley community and will serve the City of Langley area, and surrounding communities.

The current facility is not adequate for supporting service delivery due to poor maintenance, general building disrepair, and restrictions in the lease regarding fixtures.

The Public Health Unit is anticipated to be approximately 20,000 sq ft. The subject building is a low-rise office building consisting of reinforced concrete foundations at grade and tilt-up concrete panels with an internal steel floor and roof structure. Exterior walls are painted tilt-up panels with vertical sealant joints. Interior walls consist of typical interior finishes, including painted gypsum boards, carpet flooring and acoustic ceiling tiles. The window system consists of an aluminum storefront assembly with double-paned glazing units.

The Public Health Unit space will not be classified as a healthcare facility or a treatment center, but a few rooms, like exam and clean rooms, would need to be designed to CSA standards. During the project, it was determined that a portion of the area where exams take place was upgraded to meet CSA 317.2 for Type 2 rooms. Landlord upgrades are not within our scope of the project. Introba is providing Mechanical, Electrical and Communications Consulting Services in collaboration with RYR for this project.
