Northern Beaches Hospital

The new Northern Beaches Hospital increases community access to public and private healthcare, including 488 additional beds, new operating theatres and surgical suites, a large integrated emergency department, and state-of-the-art intensive care and critical care units.

Introba (formerly Integral Group) provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design services for this project.

As the client representative for the Public Private Partnership (PPP) developer (NSW Health) and the operator consortium (Healthscope Hospitals), Integral Group acted as a project liaison to effectively communicate outcomes between all parties. This open communication allowed the project to balance the immediate and future needs of the community through a continuous and detailed review of construction drawings.

The PPP arrangement required Healthscope to run both public and private areas within the hospital. The project’s ongoing operational success required intense stakeholder management and planning to ensure building service provisions. Metering allowed for accurate, proportionate operation and maintenance between the respective functional areas of the hospital.

The nine-story high facility, with a multi-story 1,400 space car park and helipad, will serve the needs of the Northern Beaches community, providing equal access and greater healthcare choices.
