Kelowna Airport

Introba provided mechanical services for the Kelowna Airport in Kelowna, BC, Canada.

The Kelowna Airport is one of the fastest-growing airports in North America. With future passenger volume expected to double, the City is taking action by expanding its facilities by an additional 19,600 ft². This expansion includes improvements to the airport runway, pre-board screening area, and upgrades to the existing building structure to achieve long-term operational efficiency.

The client retained Introba (formerly Integral Group) as the prime mechanical consultant. With a construction budget of $6 million, key features include variable speed drives, DX split system cooling, and rooftop units that provide free cooling during the spring and fall seasons. These units offer future flexibility in design and ensure minimized obstruction of views from second-level offices.

Overall, the client receives a balance of reliability, cost, and ease of maintenance. These enhancements enable Kelowna to accommodate non-stop flights from Europe, attracting visitors to its renowned ski resort. This approach is all part of the City’s plan to remain competitive with other tourist destinations and increase its employment opportunities for residents.
