We provided mechanical consulting services for this secondary school in North Vancouver, Canada.

Argyle Secondary School provides education space for secondary students in one of six catchment areas in North Vancouver. The school accommodates 1,200 to 1,500 students and had a construction value of approximately CAN$58 million.

The building's mechanical design features water source heat pumps with dry fluid coolers, energy recovery ventilators, high mass radiant heaters, and displacement ventilation.

The school's learning experience is built around learning “communities” as opposed to traditional classrooms. It has four flexible classroom spaces, as well as a smaller breakout space for individuals or small group work, and an area for teachers to prepare their lessons area.

In terms of energy, the building uses electricity as its main source as opposed to fossil fuels, and the school's lighting automatically adapts to natural light levels.
