With the addition of a new, state-of-the-art mathematics building, the University of Waterloo aims to create a world-class presence that fosters industry partnerships, advancement, and interdisciplinary research. At the same time, it should help attract and retain faculty and students to the institution.

The proposed five-storey, new build academic building will connect to the existing Math and Computers Building and the Davis Centre. It will host research institutes in fields such as fintech, data science, and cryptography.

The building will accommodate the Combinatorics and Optimization department as well as the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing, which plays a key role in the faculty’s outreach program. There will be new social and collaboration spaces, plus classrooms and collision spaces to encourage interaction and collaboration among faculty, students, and external partners.
