The AU$63-million redevelopment of the Melbourne Veterinary School Learning and Teaching Building provides enhanced pet treatment and training facilities for future veterinarians in Victoria, Australia.

The project includes a new five-story learning and teaching building and a two-story veterinary hospital.

Introba (formerly Integral Group) delivered a facility that benefitted students and the local community through a strong working relationship with various stakeholders—each with unique requirements within the facility.

The building has been awarded a 6-Star Green Star Design rating and As Built certified by the Green Building Council of Australia. Original sustainability targets for the project were exceeded during construction, and consequently, the Veterinary School Learning and Teaching Building became the University of Melbourne’s first building to achieve a 6-Star accreditation.

With key sustainability features, such as passive, energy-efficient building design, smart metering, environmentally sustainable building products, fixtures, fittings and furniture, and integrated photovoltaic and hot water systems, this project is a wonderful example of leadership in sustainable building design and construction.
