Room2 Chiswick
Introba provided mechanical, electrical, public health, energy modeling, and environmental design for Room2 in Chiswick, United Kingdom.
Room2 is pioneering the "hometel" trend, a new accommodation style designed to give people an at-home experience while they're traveling. With a focus on flexibility, Room2 offers catering, or guests can use the in-room cooking facilities, storage is available, as well as a home workout-style gym.
The client's ambition is to have a net zero hotel that is a beacon of sustainability and well-being. Through in-depth research into new technologies and bespoke design, the team designed the ground source heat pump to guarantee a minimum of 25 years without losing efficiency and reduce the projected energy consumption required to heat the domestic hot water by 30-40%.
The project has also signed up to the London Energy Transformation Initiative (LETI) Pioneer Project scheme, designating two rooms as living labs. Everything is metered, including water, heating, cooling, and electricity, and the rooms analyze occupant behavior through individual sensors on each appliance and other energy-consuming technology. By looking at how guests use energy, the system can influence their behavior to reduce energy use.
We are delighted that Elementa could suggest this innovative technology to allow room2 to reduce the carbon footprint of our latest property in Chiswick, in line with our strategy to be a leading hotel operator to take our environmental responsibilities seriously.
