We provided MEPFP engineering services for a new 328,000sf medical education and research facility.
The project encompassed various specialized spaces, including medical education labs, research labs, simulation labs, offices, classrooms, and common spaces.
Challenges included designing for the large central atrium, extensive site utility work coordination with the adjacent hospital construction and achieving LEED Gold certification. To address these challenges, we implemented advanced smoke modeling and exhaust system design for the atrium, coordinated closely with IU Health for site utilities, and integrated sustainable components like active chilled/hot water beams and energy-efficient systems.
The result is a cutting-edge facility that meets the highest standards in medical education while prioritizing sustainability and functionality.
