We are providing climate action planning services, including research, engagement support, and technical analysis, to help this BC city reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We are supporting the City of Coquitlam in developing a corporate and community-wide climate action plan. The project will chart a path for the City to reduce emissions from transportation, buildings, waste, industry, and agriculture to achieve a 45% reduction in emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050.

The project has equity, affordability, and low-carbon resilience as guiding principles and parallel goals to ensure that decarbonization does not occur at the expense of other critical priorities.

We have been retained for overarching project management, as well as best practice research and policy analysis; energy and emissions modeling, including a “business as usual” and “policy scenario”; an economic and equity screening to evaluate key strategies; community, stakeholder, staff, and rightsholder engagement; and final plan writing.

The plan will build off existing work the City has already undertaken, including an Environmental Sustainability Plan and a Strategic Transportation Plan, to create a clear path for ambitious action and achieving the City’s climate targets.

The final plan will also be accompanied by a final implementation and monitoring plan to help staff track their progress and stay the course.
