Bangkok International Airport
We worked on the assessment and redesign of the expansion of the existing main terminal building at the airport — known locally as Suvarnabhumi Airport — to accommodate the growing volume of Thailand’s domestic passengers.
The baggage handling system (BHS) incorporated in-line explosive detection systems (EDS) equipment and increased capacity to 60 million annual passengers at Bangkok's primary and newest airport. Design considerations included minimizing the disruption and impact on the existing systems and the ongoing construction process. The BHS design included three more islands of check-in counters, a transporting conveyor, an individual carrier system (ICS) system, six-in-line EDS equipment, and an early baggage storage (EBS) facility.
