Al Maktoum International Airport
Introba is providing network and communications along with security services for the Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Introba (formerly Ross & Baruzzini) is the lead IT and Security consultant for AMI, which is expected to be the largest passenger airport in the world upon completion of Phase 1 with a capacity of 130 million passengers per annum. Phase 1 includes a terminal building and two concourses that will provide approximately 200 aircraft stands. Upon completion of Phase 1, AMI will become the hub base for Emirates Airlines. It is proposed that AMI will ultimately accommodate approximately 400 Aircraft Stands, distributed around four Concourses with a capacity of 220 million Passengers per Year. Two Terminal buildings will be constructed (one in Phase One and one in the Ultimate Phase) and will be serviced by an Express Train from Dubai.

Our team will also provide operating center design, telecommunication room fit-out, data center design, security Threat and Vulnerability risk assessments for the main terminal building and the site, ITS Concept of Operations, and airport consulting services under associated contracts. Peer review of existing Security Concept of Operations and master plan documents was also performed by our team.
Unique Challenges
This project posed the unique challenge of being a megaproject that will require the capabilities and capacities of many systems to be stretched beyond current limits. The large campus area associated with this project will need to accommodate future provisions in the data centers, network, and systems to allow for Ultimate Phase expansion currently planned for 2040 – 2045. The design will need to accommodate multiple technology refreshments that will be required over an eight to ten-year design and implementation lifecycle timeline. One of the many innovations currently planned for this airport is the requirement to use technology to streamline the operations of a facility of this size while prioritizing the customer experience to ensure it provides a world-class experience.
Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks are utilized to coordinate design efforts across multiple design platforms. Design is required to be coordinated for building optimization. Unique identifiers are applied to building components for database extraction and operation.
