This project consisted of creating the iconic Investcorp Building for the Middle East Centre, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, which was named the World’s Best Higher Education and Research Building at the 2016 World Architecture Festival in Berlin.

This facility provides the College with 1,127 m² of floor space. It incorporates basement photo, paper, and new accessions archive and storage facilities incorporating close environmental control systems, basement 117-seat lecture theatre, gallery space, library rolling stack facilities, library reading room, archive reading room, office accommodation, and ablutions.

Working on behalf of the College, we undertook specialist Clerk of Works services on this design-build project to ensure that the MEP services installation was strictly in accordance with the agreed employer’s requirements and in line with industry best practices.

In addition, the team carried out several retained services duties, including reviewing the MEP services design proposals against the employer requirements, review of the contractor’s construction issue documentation, commissioning witnessing activities, defect and omissions inspections, end of defects period inspection, application for payment appraisals and extension of time reviews.

Our expertise, knowledge of innovative services design, and practical buildability experience allowed us to fulfill this pivotal role on a demanding and high-profile commission. Our experts are custodians of the architect’s vision while ensuring the College’s intent is authentically brought to life.

Estate-wide
Introba (formerly Elementa Consulting) has undertaken a detailed program of condition surveys to the entire estate of St. Antony’s College to implement improved energy performance and sustainability credentials. This work totals twenty-seven buildings and includes the renowned Grade II Hilda Besse Building, a significant example of a university building by the practice HKPA, who are acclaimed for their post-war university buildings.
