Transforming Healthcare Access in Wheat Ridge

Lutheran Medical Center, with a legacy spanning over 100 years, has long been a cornerstone of healthcare in Wheat Ridge and Jefferson County. As the region's healthcare needs evolved, a more flexible, patient-centered, and efficient hospital became essential. The new 660,000 sq ft replacement hospital, located on a 26-acre site at Clear Creek Crossing, was designed to provide expanded access to state-of-the-art care, including trauma, stroke, heart attack, and neurosurgical services. The project also required careful planning and logistics to ensure seamless transitions and optimized resource management throughout its development.

Introba was engaged from the project's inception to its completion, providing medical equipment planning, procurement, logistics management expertise, and a comprehensive suite of technology planning, design, and construction management services. These contributions supported the construction of a six-story facility with more than 237 patient beds, 10 operating rooms, and a rooftop helipad. Our work also encompassed critical systems design, including IT, security, AV, wireless, DAS, RTLS, and AV systems.

Key highlights include:

  • Strategic Planning: Facilitated procurement strategies that aligned with the project timeline and resource needs.
  • Technology Planning and Oversight: Participated in Big Room meetings and conducted several CA visits to oversee vendor installations, ensuring seamless integration of technology systems.
  • Logistics Management: Coordinated delivery schedules and construction workflows to optimize onsite operations and minimize disruptions.
  • Integration of Services: Supported the development of critical areas, including a central utility plant, medical imaging suites, and women's services, to enhance the hospital's operational efficiency and patient care capabilities.

Our role ensured that the replacement hospital was not only built to meet immediate healthcare demands but also designed to support future growth and innovation. By focusing on efficient planning, technology integration, and logistics, we helped Intermountain Health achieve its vision of creating one of the region's most energy- and staff-efficient facilities. With its completion, the new Lutheran Medical Center will provide enhanced healthcare access for Wheat Ridge and the surrounding communities, setting a new standard for patient-centered care and operational excellence.
