Energy-System-Transformation-Playbook

Working with the cities of Boulder, Minneapolis, and Seattle, Introba's (formerly Integral Group) team developed the Energy System Transformation Playbook.

The Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance supported the project through a grant from the Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance, a collaboration of cities committed to achieving aggressive long-term carbon reduction goals.

  • The Playbook is a tool that can be used by any city striving to transform into a low-carbon future.

  • Strategies in the Playbook were tested in different neighborhood types in Boulder, Seattle, and Minneapolis.

  • Collected baseline energy use data for each neighborhood and modeled the energy and GHG impacts of transitioning from fossil fuel-based energy to clean energy, noting where cities have varying levels of influence on the critical aspects of their energy system.

  • The Playbook includes policy, planning, programs, and infrastructure investment guidance to support city energy system transitions.
