Cañada College Kinesiology and Wellness Building

The Cañada College Kinesiology and Wellness Building provides a modern and fully accessible facility for students and the local community.

The striking architecture includes a rooftop canopy, which offers shading to the outdoor recreation spaces on the roof while also reducing the energy consumption of the building by decreasing solar heat gain.

This building includes an extensive fitness center, an NCAA competition basketball and volleyball gym, locker rooms, offices, and classrooms for wellness activities. The complex also includes two new instructional and competition swimming pools to host swim classes and meets. The rooftop of the building has an open-air running track and yoga studio. The new facility is home to the college’s physical education, athletics, kinesiology, and dance departments.

Cañada College Kinesiology and Wellness Building was completed using a design-build delivery method in partnership with ELS ArchitectureBlach Construction, and the San Mateo Community College District.
