This project is one of London’s largest mixed-use community regeneration schemes.

The Brunswick development is a Grade II listed building designed by Patrick Hodgkinson in the 1960s, located in Bloomsbury in the heart of London. It comprises over 590,000 ft² (over 6 acres). It includes 60 retail units, 397 residential flats, a new supermarket, a medical center, 500 secure car parking spaces, and the famous art house cinema, The Renoir.

Introba's (formerly Elementa Consulting) work on this project comprised mechanical, electrical, and public health design. Allied London appointed Introba for the M&E Consultancy up to Stage E. ISG appointed Introba to undertake the detailed design and site monitoring. The team refurbished the heating and rainwater distribution systems to 397 dwellings above the shopping center. The works for LB Camden required significant liaison with English Heritage, Allied London, and LB Camden to agree on acceptable solutions.

The challenge for this project was to maintain safe access to the residents, maintain as many trading units as possible during the refurbishment, construction of a major new anchor store (Waitrose), major electrical upgrade, fast track relocation of medical center upgrading, and maintaining life and fire safety systems. The outcome is a beautifully restored community development that won the Civic Trust Award in 2008.
