Camp-Southern-Ground

Located on nearly 500 acres, Camp Southern Ground is the passion project of Grammy-award-winning artist Zac Brown.

Inspired by his experience as a camp counselor, Zac’s vision was to create a state-of-the-art facility that serves children ages 7-17 with both typical and special needs. Lodge #1 is a sustainable summer camp lodging and hotel property, providing a rehabilitation environment for soldiers with PTSD.

The Introba (formerly Integral Group) team presented multiple options for Lodge #1 during conceptual design, including an approach leveraging a Passive House-inspired envelope and heating and cooling via a 100% natural ventilation air fan with airflows 30% greater than ASHRAE 62.1, along with high-volume, low-speed fans.

Utilizing materials such as stone and concrete, each structure at the Camp will stand the test of time while incorporating the latest in energy-efficient and renewable energy methods with LEED certification. Designed to provide a “spectrum of experiences,” Camp Southern Ground includes a technology center, an equestrian center, and flexible housing.
