BAYER

Introba provided engineering services for the Bayer, Regulatory Refrigerated Warehouse in St. Louis.

We provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services to convert an existing warehouse into a cold storage warehouse. The design criteria required 39 degrees with extremely low humidity. The fire protection system was replaced with a preaction system due to the cold nature of the new environment. The preaction system utilized an air dryer to decrease the humidity for the dry piping system to avoid ice plugs in the pipe and a linear heat cable system for the electronic actuation. In addition, a dust collection system with an explosion control system and exhaust system were utilized to control dust in an organic material grinding room.

A detailed hazard analysis was completed for the high pile storage within the facility and the design team worked closely with the fire marshal and the owner to provide a safe and economical solution to the cold storage warehouse.
