Atlantic Yards Arena & Redevelopment

Atlantic Yards Arena & Redevelopment

Brooklyn, New York
United States
Barclays

We provided security consulting and engineering for redeveloping the Atlantic Yards Arena project.

This 22-acre site includes over 9 million sf of mixed-use and mixed-income development property. The project is centered around the City’s third-largest transportation hub, Atlantic Terminal. The project includes a new 18,000-person professional basketball and ice hockey arena, 7 acres of new public open space, a new secure state-of-the-art Long Island Railroad Yard, MTA Transit Improvements, multiple mid-rise and high-rise residential buildings, 180 room four-star hotel, and includes 7300 units of new housing.

Our team was responsible for facilitating and coordinating between the NYPD Counter Terrorism Division, the three local precincts responsible for the area, and developing a threat and risk assessment for the arena and the arena block. We worked with the developer and the design team in the development of the security criteria for the arena and influence on the adjacent Atlantic Yards (re-developed for Long Island Railroad) and subway lines. The physical and electronic security systems for the Arena design and criteria were developed by us, coordinated with the design team, and implemented during the design phases. Barclays remains the safest Arena in the country with our implemented Threat and Risk Assessment, including substantial column, roof truss, and seat concourse enhancements.
