Introba is providing energy modeling and sustainability consulting services for Algoma University’s Mukwa Waakaa’igan Indigenous Centre of Cultural Excellence in Saulte Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Algoma University was established in 1965 and is located on the former Shingwauk Indian Residential School site. The university offers a unique and historically rich setting for cross-cultural learning, where Anishinaabe (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit), domestic and international students, and faculty learn from and with each other in a spirit of friendship and respect.

The new Mukwa Waakaa’igan Indigenous Centre of Cultural Excellence will take over where the university’s east wing stands and will be an added attraction for prospective students. The facility will be the new home for the Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre Archives and Aboriginal Healing Foundation Collection. It will feature historical and modern displays, exhibitions, and gallery areas, showcasing the work of the Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association, a group of residential school survivors and their descendants.

Introba is providing energy modeling and sustainability consulting services for this project.
